1st Hot Pot Party in Japan
[2017年12月22日]
We had a ‘Nabe’ (hotpot) party as a kick-off party for the TSU midterm presentation! We bought a motsu nabe set the day before on Rakuten. Moreover, on the day of the party, Prof. Fukuda, B4 and M1 students shopped for ingredients and prepared a little bit, it turned out to be a very delicious motsu nabe! There was a Waseda-Keio game, some people went to buy a cake but didn’t get to eat it, and it was a fun party.
Campus-wide cleaning @ Midorigaoka campus
[2017/12/19]
There was a campus-wide cleaning, which is the Midorigaoka campus that I usually take care of. However, the main thing is sweeping those fallen leaves.
The end of the year is approaching steadily.
Baseball Tournament @ Noda Campus of Tokyo University of Science
[2017/12/03]
Tokyo Tech participated in the “10-University Planning Laboratory Baseball Tournament” again this year. Although we were not able to participate, we heard that not only students but also Prof. Fukuda played an active role in pitching and hitting. Let’s do it again next year!
Update from Ms. Kaneko’s as a research student @ETHZurich
[2017/10/23]
We received a recent report from Ms. Kaneko (M2 student), who is currently studying abroad at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZurich):
I am a research student at ETHZurich in Switzerland. Unlike in Japan, the laboratory is basically composed of doctors and above, so I am the youngest in the group. I also look forward to visiting Switzerland and other European countries on my days off!

The 16th Behaviour Modelling Summer School 2017
[2017年9月13日~15日]
This year, five members (three M1 students and two B4 students) from Fukuda Laboratory participated in the Behaviour Modelling Summer School as a Tokyo Tech team.
Based on the Yokohama Probe Person data, we worked on the construction of a “destination selection model for lone travelers,” which investigates how lone travelers select their destinations. We examined the necessary data and models by considering how single customers select their destinations, specifically, whether they select stores or zones. As a result, we were not able to obtain valid results due to the small sample size and large number of explanatory variables. Let’s try again next year!

Mr. Tanaka from Kamiya Laboratory at the University of the Ryukyus, with whom we are collaborating on a wifi-based tourism flow survey, spent a month in Fukuda Laboratory during the summer vacation. It was a fulfilling month for us to share what we don’t have with each other, not only in research but also in our personal lives. Let’s continue our friendly collaboration!

TSU Summer Seminar is over!
[2017/08/26~08/29]
This year, the TSU joint summer seminar was held in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, as in the previous year. The main purpose of this camp is for master and doctoral students and professors to present and discuss their research. I think we were able to have more active discussions this year. In addition, we were able to share new knowledge by reading books on game theory in the lab seminar. Also, we were able to interact with people outside the laboratory through the reception and BBQ, making it a very dense camp.
New members (April 2017)
(From left) Mr. Shiroma [B4], Ms. Iokura [B4], and Mr. Hirabayashi [M1] newly joined our lab from this April. Let’s do our best in our research.
